Food Security Year Round, Now you don’t have to resort to imported produce at the end of the growing season; our aquaponics system will be able to facilitate your fresh produce needs all year! You can always avail of our Aquaponics shares to have local, sustainable, wholesome, and bio-secure food. The symbiotic affinity between the tilapia and plants in our aquaponic system brings our food-growing abilities to an unprecedented level. An all-natural system, aquaponics bridges the gap between aquaculture and hydroponics, bringing the best of both worlds in a completely chemical-free environment. Waste produced by the fish is used as nutritional feed for the plants, and in turn the plants clean the water which is fed back to the fish. These conservational tactics use less water per crop than traditional field horticulture or hydroponics systems. SIGN UP BELOW!
Community Supported Aquaponics
What to Expect: Each week, Gills & Greens offers up to three heads of lettuce, Asian veg, and bunches of fresh herbs. This CSA will also provide fresh whole Tilapia every week
Share Information: shares are available for purchase at a price of $300 upfront, followed by a monthly $100 payment for three months. This totals $600 for an approximate share of 12 weeks of vegetables. Half-shares are also available and are to be paid in full upon registration ($300).
A one-time fee of $30 will be charged as a deposit for your weekly CSA basket.
Pickup: for the CSA program will be at Lester’s Farm Chalet (92 Pearltown Road) on Tuesdays between 4pm–6pm starting January 1st 2019
